CHRISTIAN ROME AND THE OBELISKS

It is a 3 hours tour, which takes place mainly in the afternoon: departure at 2.30PM. Bus or car renting to be paid separately.

The itinerary includes:

The Basilica of S. Mary Major (Santa Maria Maggiore): it's a cathedral of Marian rite, with mosaics of IV and V century, wonderful visual representation of the biblical enlightenment to faithful people.

The Basilica of St. John Lateran (S. Giovanni Laterano): a territorial present to the Christianity by the Emperor Constantine.

The Holy Stairs (Scala Santa) consists of 26 steep stairs, in which the Christ's verdict and the death were ordained.

The Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls (Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura): which is the only basilica outside the "pomerium", is richly decorated with marbles, example of the Cosmati maestros' art. The basilica was built on a cemetery and it preserves some Saint's mortal remains.
